Fergus Hay

Veterinarian (BVMS, MRCVS)

Fergus graduated from the prestigious Glascow Veterinary School in 1983. He worked in the beautiful "Lake District" in England before coming to Australia in 1986. Fergus quickly embraced the relaxed Australian lifestyle and settled in Singleton, marrying a local girl, Jodi. Together they have 3 children.

Visitors to Fergus and Jodi's home are met by a menagierie of dogs, cats, birds and horses, with the odd cow and sheep thrown in for good measure.

Fergus enjoys working with all manner of animals with a particular emphasis on racing greyhounds and thoroughbreds.

Matthew Mullen

Veterinarian (BVSc (Syd))

Matt graduated from Sydney University in 1991. He then worked in a mixed practice in Camden, Sydney for a year before making the move to the Hunter Valley where he decided to stay.

He lives in Singleton with his wife and children and menagerie of pets including several Labradors, a couple of cats and some chickens.

Matt likes the area's laid back lifestyle and working in a country style practice where he can combine his professional interests of small animal medicine and surgery along with equine medicine and reproduction.

Besides spending time with family Matt enjoys an active lifestyle and is especially keen on Horse Racing, Cricket and Rugby League.

Viv King

Veterinarian (BVSc(Syd))

Viv was born in Kenya and came to Australia when he was young, growing up in Sydney’s North Shore.

He Graduated from Sydney University in 1978 then went on to work a 12 month stint in Alice Springs before moving to Wales in the UK to work for twelve years. In the early nineties Viv moved back to Australia settling in the Singleton area which he has called home for the last 20 plus years.

Viv is proud father to two boys – Lewis and Charlie. In his spare time he enjoys jogging and is a keen though erratic golfer.

Viv enjoys working with small animals with a particular interest in orthopeadics.

Kirsten Ledger

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Kirsten grew up in Bundaberg in Queensland. In 1998 she graduated from the University of Queensland and then went on to work in a variety of mixed practices in the NSW Hunter region. Kirsten settled in the Singleton area 3 years ago with her husband, 2 children (Lucy and Mitchell) and her pets which includes 2 cats, 3 chickens, and 1 budgie.

She joined the SVH team in early 2012 and when it comes to her work she particularly enjoys small animal medicine and surgery, and clinical pathology.

An outdoors kinda girl, Kirsten enjoys gardening and camping with her family in her spare time.

Lisa Ryan

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Lisa graduated in 2012 from Charles Sturt University and we were quick to snap her up to become the newest member of our veterinarian team.

Lisa grew up on a farm in Victoria but moved Singleton in 2012 after starting with us making the commute to work much easier! She is the owner of ‘Cassie’ – a Border Collie x Kelpie and in her free time enjoys netball and playing the piano.

When it comes to work Lisa has a particular interest in small animal orthopaedics and equine reproduction, and she has already proven to be a valued asset to the SVH team.

Emma Cruickshanks

Veterinarian (BVSc)

Emma was raised in Greta where shje lived with her family on a small farm. She graduated with Honours from the University of Queensland. Emma joined Singleton Vets in 2002 and enjoys all facets of working in a mixed practice - from small animal surgery to calving.

Emma lives on a farm with her husband and 3 children and menagerie of animals which includes, dogs, cats, birds, sheep, horses and cattle.

When she is not either working, tending to her farm or running after her 3 children Emma enjoys socialising and going to the gym.


Angie Baxter

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Always cheerful and willing to help, Angie is one of our excellent Vet Nurses you may meet at Singleton. She holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has previous experience as an Equine Nurse. Angie is devoted to providing our clients and their pets with the best care possible.

Born and bred in Singleton she has been a valued member of the SVH team for a long time and has a particular interest in wound management.

Alice Beckett

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Another one of our fabulous Nurses Alice has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has worked at SVH for the last four years. She particularly enjoys working with the wide variety of animals we see on a daily basis at SVH.

Alice has grown up in the Lower Belford area where she lives with her family and 2 dogs – Sadie and Bess, and when not at work enjoys socializing with friends and listening to live music.

Sharon Schultz

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Sharon is one of our outstanding, experienced nurses. She is a Singleton lass through and through having grown up in the area. Sharon is an extremely competent nurse and holds a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing. Sharon is particularly interested in surgical and post operative nursing, and takes pride in helping our clients care for the furred and feathered members of their family.

A fun loving mother of 2 wonderful children, Shaz and her family live on a property in the Singleton area with a hyperactive Kelpie, a lazy lounge cat, and a herd of cattle. Her top pet peeve is bad driving -so no burnouts in the SVH car park please! She loves sports, Barbequeing, and a good tangy tart (of the lemon variety).

Nikkie Bailey


Nikkie is one of our amazingly efficient Receptionist and can be found on almost any given day behind the front desk organising the place. Nikkie will be quick to greet every one of our clients with a smile and a treat for their animal, and has the super human ability of remembering every client, their pet, the client’s family members, and their pet’s family members.

When not at work Nikkie is kept very busy by her 3 children, 3 dogs, 2 cats and 1 bird, and likes seafood, walking her dogs, and camping.

Tegan Campbell

Receptionist (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Tegan is another one of our fabulous girls in reception who will greet you and your pet. Tegan  began working with us at SVH in early 2011. She has experience as a vet nurse as well as receptionist and has completed her Certificate IV in vet nursing.

Tegan's pets include her dog and 2 cats and in her free time enjoys the beach, water-sports, walking her dog and spending time with her family.

Amanda Meyn

Receptionist (Cert III Animal Studies)

Amanda is one of our extremely helpful receptionists having excellent customer service skills and completed a Certificate III in animal studies. Friendly, funny and possessing the ability to talk underwater Amanda is sure to brighten your day.

Amanda has a genuine interest in Animal Welfare, anything Canine related, and eating potato products.  She has not yet realised her potential to be a Gym Junkie but is thinking about researching the task. She lives in Singleton with her family and pet dogs and cats, rabbits, geckos and fish. She enjoys gardening and a good book, and doesn’t enjoy dis-organisation and running late.

Jamie Menzies

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Jamie first came to help out at SVH through her school work experience program. She loved the experience of dealing with all our wonderful clients and their pets and decided to gain her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

She has a particular interest in Canine Behaviour and is owner to quite a few dogs herself (possibly a slight understatement!). While at home Jamie enjoys horse riding and hanging out on the farm with her menagerie of animals which (besides all the dogs) include horses, cattle, geese and her pet birds.

Stacey Eveleigh

Veterinary Nurse (Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing)

Stacey is a long time SVH staff member. She holds a cert IV in Vet Nursing and loves working with the variety of animals that we get in the Hospital. She enjoys the fact that every day is a new challenge and a chance to meet and help a new animal.

Stacey's pets include 'Lucy' - a cranky Foxie, 'Sassie' - a beautiful Rough Collie, 'Bear' - a Blue Heeler, Bertie - her hand reared Rainbow Lorikeet, and 'Prissie' and 'Mumma Mia' - stray cats whom she adopted.

Lisa McCredie

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Veterinary Nursing)

Lisa is an excellent, hard-working Vet Nurse who has been with SVH since 2004. She enjoys forming good relationships with our clients and their pets, and loves the fact that working at SVH provides her with an opportunity to constantly learn new and interesting things (animals truly are remarkable!).

Lisa loves staying fit, socialising, travelling and spending time with her husband and son.

Her pets include her labrador Grace, chihuahua Bruce, her cat Seb and her little adoption chihuahua x named Tiko.

Rebecca Whiting

Veterinary Nurse

Rebecca is one of our lovely Vet Nurses. She has a genuine compassion for our clients and their pets and enjoys getting the chance to help care for all types of animals. Rebecca loves seeing pets cared for and nursed back to health so they can rejoin their family who loves them, and believes having a positive impact on the quality of life for both owner and pet is one of the best parts of being a vet nurse. 

Rebecca is the proud owner of a Maremma x Border Collie called 'Freckles and is an avid bird enthusiast.

Katie Barwick

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Vet Nursing)

Katie holds her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing. She has been Singleton resident for a long time now and started off at SVH through work experience. She fit in so well with the team we decided to keep her and pay her for her hard work.

Katie has a particular interest in exotics and pocket pets (some may know her by her alias "The Rabbit Lady"), and has her own menagerie of pets at home including a cat, dog, and lorikeet, rabbits, chooks and even a Tarantula. Katie keeps active in her spare time at the gym, dancing and running. She also enjoys photography.

Katie Johnson

Veterinary Nurse (Cert IV Vet Nursing)

Katie started at SVH early 2013 after moving to the Singleton area. She comes with lots of animal care experience having worked at various other animal hospitals for the 8+ years prior to joining the SVH team.

Katie holds a particular love for horses, medical nursing and wound repair.

Her own pets include 2 Clydesdales, 3 dogs and 2 cats. She is kept busy in her spare time renovating her house, horse riding, camping and is also a budding photographer.

Vicki Conroy

(Delta Level IV Canine Instructor)

Vicki conducts our puppy preschool classes. She has owned, bred, trained and sometimes trialled cattle dogs for 25 years, completing her first Dog Club Instructors Course 25 yrs ago.

With a quarter of a century of experience up her sleeve she is ready to take on even the most mischievious of pups. For more information about Vicki visit
